Hedgerow House is the trading name of Potage Farm Limited, a company registered in Jersey under number 98448, at La Rue De La Hauteur, St Lawrence, Jersey JE3 1FY. Until 2026 we traded as Sheepshed Jersey, and bookings made under that name are covered by these terms too.
These terms apply to every booking you make with us for play sessions, seasonal events, workshops and other activities, whether you book through our website, by email, by phone or in person, and to gift vouchers. Children's parties, weddings and private hire are arranged under a separate written agreement. Farm stays will have their own terms when accommodation bookings open.
The version published on our website when you book is the one that applies, and it takes priority over anything in a confirmation email or elsewhere. If we change these terms, the change applies to bookings made after it is published.
When you book you are agreeing to these terms for everyone in your party. Please make sure they know about them, particularly section 8 on staying safe on the farm.
You must be 18 or over to make a booking.
Online bookings are made through our booking system and are confirmed when we send you a confirmation email. Your place is not held until that email has been sent. If you have paid and nothing arrives within an hour, check your junk folder and then email us: an email address typed incorrectly is nearly always the reason.
Please give us a mobile number and an email address we can actually reach you on. We use them to contact you if anything about your session changes, for example if the weather closes the farm.
Check the date, time and session carefully before you pay. We are a small team and we cannot always move a booking that was made for the wrong day.
Payment is taken in full when you book. Prices are in pounds sterling and include GST where it applies.
We may decline a booking, for example if a session is full, if the details given do not look right, or if a previous visit ended with someone being asked to leave.
Every adult attending a play session or ticketed event needs a ticket, including adults who are accompanying a child rather than taking part. The adult ticket pays for the space, the facilities and the welcome, not only the activity.
Every child needs a ticket, except babies and pre-crawlers as set out below.
Babies and pre-crawlers come free, but only when the same booking also includes either one adult plus a paying sibling, or two adult tickets. The free place is for the same family or car as the paying tickets. This keeps the minimum booking fair for everyone.
There is a minimum spend of £12 per booking.
Play sessions are age banded. Wednesdays are for children aged 0 to 4, and Thursdays and Fridays for children aged 0 to 6. Please book the right day for your child's age, because the sessions are planned around it.
A term booking covers one adult and one child for all the sessions of that term. Sibling and twin places are limited and have to be booked separately, so please ask before you book if you need one.
Tickets cannot be resold privately. If you can no longer come, contact us and we will try to pass your place on, which protects everyone from fraudulent resales. Where we find someone to take the place, we will refund you.
If your plans change, tell us by email as early as you can. Where there is space, we will move a single session, event or workshop ticket to another date of the same activity free of charge, provided you ask at least 48 hours before your booked start time. Each booking can be moved once. Requests inside 48 hours are at our discretion and we will do what we reasonably can.
Sessions, events and workshops run for a fixed number of people, and a place that is cancelled late usually cannot be filled. So:
Where a refund is due, it goes back to the card or account you paid with, within 14 days.
We run on a working farm, and now and then we have to cancel or change a session. The usual reasons are:
If we cancel, we will contact you as soon as we can using the details on your booking, and you can choose another date, a credit valid for 12 months, or a full refund. We are not responsible for travel or other costs you have already incurred.
If we make a small change, such as a start time moving by half an hour or a different activity on the day, the booking stands. If the change is significant we treat it as a cancellation and the choices above apply.
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and can be used against any activity we sell online. They have no cash value, cannot be refunded, and can be spent across more than one booking until the value is used up. If we cancel a session that was paid for with a voucher, the value goes back on the voucher and the 12 months restarts from that date. If you lose a voucher code we can re-send it to the email address it was bought with.
This is a working farm, with livestock, machinery, open ground, water and a flower field. We love sharing it, and it needs a few rules.
Children stay with their grown-up. Our team run the sessions; they do not provide childcare. Responsibility for a child stays with the adult who brought them, at all times and in all areas.
Wash your hands. After touching animals, fences, gates or soil, and always before eating, wash thoroughly with soap and water at the handwashing points provided. Hand gel on its own is not enough on a farm. Please do not eat or drink in the animal areas, keep dummies, bottles and food away from the animals, and no kissing the lambs, however tempting.
Dress for mud. Wear clothes and closed shoes you do not mind getting dirty. The ground is uneven and can be slippery, and pushchairs with bigger wheels cope better than strollers.
If you are pregnant you are very welcome. Please avoid close contact with sheep during lambing (roughly March to April) and tell the team when you arrive so we can guide you. Pregnant visitors cannot go into the active lambing areas over Easter; those are sectioned off in a separate part of the farm.
Stay in the visitor areas, close gates behind you, keep off machinery, bales and fences, and follow the team's instructions.
Dogs are not allowed on the farm, with the exception of assistance dogs. Please tell us when you book if you are bringing one.
No smoking or vaping anywhere on the farm. Hay and straw burn.
Allergies. We do not cater for individual allergies on the farm, but you are welcome to bring food in a sealed container to any of our events.
Accidents. Tell a member of the team straight away about any accident or injury, so we can help and record it.
We may ask anyone whose behaviour is unsafe, unkind or disruptive to leave, without a refund, and we may decline future bookings.
Parking on the farm is free. Please park considerately, without leaving big gaps between cars, and do not block the exits. Most sessions are free play, so you can come and go as you please to work around naps and other commitments. We usually head out onto the farm at 10.30am for our outdoor activities, and you may be asked to wait on the drive until everyone is safely inside the enclosed areas. Sessions finish promptly at 11.30am, and you will not be able to stay beyond 11.45am.
The farm has uneven ground, gravel, grass and mud. The barn has level access, with a concrete floor and a ramp. If you or someone in your party has access needs, contact us before you book and we will tell you honestly what to expect and help where we can.
We do not photograph or film at our sessions and events. Any images we share are ones parents have sent us themselves, showing only their own children. If that ever changes for a particular event, everyone taking part will be asked to sign a consent form first.
You are welcome to take photos of your own family. Please be thoughtful about other people's children appearing in anything you post.
To manage your booking we collect your name, contact details, the number and ages of people in your party, and payment details, which are handled by our payment provider so we never see your card number. We hold this information under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and use it to run your booking, contact you about it and keep the farm safe. Our booking system (Bookeo) processes it on our behalf. We only send you marketing emails if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. If you would like to know more about how we handle your information, or want us to delete it, email hello@hedgerowhouse.je.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
Otherwise, we are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings, vehicles or their contents while you are on the farm, for losses that were not a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, or for costs you incur because a session is cancelled, such as travel. We hold public liability insurance.
If something is wrong, tell a member of the team at the time so we can put it right on the day. If you want to take it further, email hello@hedgerowhouse.je within seven days of your visit and we will reply within five working days.
These terms and any booking made under them are governed by the law of Jersey, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of Jersey.
